Visiting a Washington Lavender Farm

What is this fascination with Lavender so many people have? I remember the soap from my high school days, what was it called…Yardley English Lavender. And it is still for sale, these days all over the internet.

But what I visited today was not Yardley and not English, it was a certified organic lavender farm in Sequim, Washington, one of the many farms (and no doubt one of the largest) on the Olympic Peninsula near where I live now.

Jardin du Soleil  creates and sells not only soaps, bath and body products, but aromatherapy and herbal products, gifts, culinary products and cuttings from this bush-like plant which is spread over their many acres.

They are busy preparing for the Sequim Lavender Fair, July 18-20, 2014, now in its  18th year, and one of the major tourist attractions of the season.  These images are just a glimpse of what’s to come.
